We're leaving tomorrow, on one of these:
to go to Los Angeles for one of these:
Along the way, we'll sleep in one of these:
And visit the Art Institute of Chicago during our long layover in that fine city, which I have never before visited.
Joe tells me that I'll be able to blog from LA as long as remember to bring this cable he's given me, so with any luck, stay tuned for updates about our trip once we land on the left coast.

Ok, I'm so jealous. Cross country by train sounds really really fun and I didn't know you could still do it. I love trains because you get to see the back side of cities and towns. How long will it take? How will you entertain the boys? Do you have to go to Albany first? I don't expect answers to any of these questions right now because you're probably busy getting ready, but I want blurry photos of scenery from the train window.
We leave Saturday night and arrive in LA on Tuesday morning. We'll be on the ground in Chicago all day Sunday, though. I expect I'll entertain the boys the way I always do, with the added excitement of being somewhere completely else looking at something new every five minutes. We're taking parts of our home school along with us. I don't think we go through Albany first; our route takes us through Buffalo and along the Lakes. We may have to go all the way down to NYC and then back through Syracuse in the middle of the night, though: that's how it was the last time we did this (about fifteen years ago), and it may still be.
looks pretty cool - don't forget your cord!
ah, I've always wanted to ride on a train!! Very Hercule Poirot/Orient Express...classic.
Have a great time!
Have a wonderful trip! I can't wait to see the pictures and hear the stories. :)
